Engadgets article Engads in the US are having a blast with a new trend channel called Black Lives Matter.
The channel has received a lot of buzz from critics and users alike who are criticizing the way the videos feature people of colour.
For example, one user on YouTube commented that the videos were offensive to people of color and that the people in the videos are not ‘people of colour’.
The channel’s founder, Nola Kaleem, defended her actions saying she is not promoting any particular group, but rather is creating content for people who are different than her own.
In the first week, the channel has garnered nearly 10 million views.
“I’m very proud of what I’ve created,” Kaleom told Engadges.
“I’m really proud of my viewers.”
She also added that the video’s creators are not necessarily people of the same colour as herself.
“My viewers are all people of all backgrounds and religions.
They are people of every colour,” she said.”
We all love music, film, comics, and movies, and they are all important parts of our lives.
I am proud to be a part of this community.”
While Kaleam’s views are certainly understandable, some users have also criticised the videos for showing “socially awkward people”.
“This is offensive to everyone,” wrote one user.
“This shows a lack of understanding of the culture and how important it is to not have a racial divide,” another wrote.
“It also shows a need to make sure everyone is comfortable and comfortable,” another added.
“Black people do not have to hide who they are to feel safe in this country,” another user added.
As the trend trend continues to gain popularity, Kaleum has started a Patreon page for her channel, where viewers can pledge money to help cover the costs of production.
“I want to make this a really rewarding thing for the fans, so if you want to get involved you can do that,” she explained.
“If you want a chance to be in the front row, you can go to the front of the queue.
There’s always a chance you might be able to get into the front, and I’m sure that’s going to be an experience that we’ll all enjoy.”

One YouTube user has already labelled the channel “racist”, while another user has compared the channel to “Nazi Germany”.
A video posted by Black Livesmatter in April said: “The real racism is that it is about the colour of the skin.
People are looking to divide us because we are different, and the way we are being told to separate is racist.”
“There are some real issues in the world that need to be addressed, and this channel is just a tool to give people of any race a voice,” Kameem added.
“It doesn’t matter if you are black, white, brown, yellow, or red, you are a human being, and that’s why we need to speak up for ourselves.”
